No. Home care agencies provide medical or personal care (bathing, medication, wound care) and require provincial licensing. Hearthside provides social companionship only — conversations, outings, and friendly visits. This means less regulation, faster service, and a warmer experience for your loved one.
Every companion completes a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) — the highest level of police background check in Canada for those working with vulnerable people. They also complete an in-person interview and reference check before being matched with any client.
Yes — and this is deliberate. Consistency is the foundation of real companionship. Your loved one builds a genuine relationship, not a rotation of strangers. If for any reason a change is needed, we handle the transition carefully and kindly.
